Thirty-one years after she sold her first Mexican restaurant, Gail Tatasciore is back in the guacamole game.
Gail and her son, Michael, opened Santa Fe Taco Co. at 2022 Main St., Northampton. That's near the intersection of Main Street and Route 329, not terribly far from the Roxy Theatre.
Valley residents with reeeaaaaaaally long memories might recall that, back in the early '70s, Gail was the original owner of the Take-A-Taco restaurant at Pershing Boulevard and Fullerton Avenue in Whitehall Township. (We don't remember it ourselves, since we were still running around in Garanimals in those days.)
Anyway, Gail sold the restaurant in 1976 to concentrate on raising her small children. She hasn't owned another eatery since, though she has worked at various local restaurants.
Now, she says, Michael wants to get into the restaurant business, so she's joining him to help out. Santa Fe Taco Co. will sell tacos, burritos, quesadillas, rice and beans, guacamole salad and other Southwestern staples.
